18 March 2015 - As the old saying goes, the whole year’s work depends on a good start in spring. As the farmers in the Wulian County of China are busy preparing for spring farming, Asia Symbol gives them a helping hand by distributing bio-organic fertilizers to all the households in Xinghua village, in collaboration with Rizhao Symbol Agroindustry Technology Company and Rizhao Overseas Chinese Federation.
Every household in the village received 5 tons of bio-organic fertilizers which comes in handy as they prepared to start their spring farming. Senior agronomist and expert on fertilizers, An Yulin, explained the benefits and application of bio-organic fertilizers to the villagers. At the same time, he also helped to clarify some common farming issues faced by the villagers.
The bio-organic fertilizer distributed to the villagers is a typical product of the resources recovery and recycling economy. It is formed by adding crop straw to the dehydrated solid fiber mud (lignin and wood fiber) produced in the pulp and paper making process. The fertilizer contains calcium, magnesium, phosphorus, sulfur, boron and other trace elements. It is not only pollution-free but can also loosen the soil and improve the granular structure of the soil so as to increase the quality and output of fruits and vegetables. This bio-organic fertilizer has been well-received in the market since its launch: the harvests of potato, wheat and peanut have shown improvements; and the resistance of the crops using such fertilizers to drought, disease, pests has been enhanced. Bio-organic fertilizer therefore, contributes to an eco-environment, while improving crop yield and reducing production cost.
The excessive use of chemical fertilizers and chemical pesticides are the main causes to the continued deterioration of the agro-ecological environment. The damage caused by the chemicals to the soil structure, strongly affects the sustainable development of agricultural production. However, organic fertilizers and bio-fertilizers can better preserve the ecological environment, improve agricultural (forest) production efficiency and deliver quality agricultural and forest products.
