The "2014 GoldenBee Corporate Social Responsibility China Honour Roll", introduced by China WTO Tribune – a monthly magazine supervised by the Ministry of Commerce, was unveiled in Beijing, China on 4-5 June 2015. Asia Symbol was given a “GoldenBee Growing Enterprises Award” at the 10th China International Forum on Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR). This is indeed an accolade attributable to its founder, Sukanto Tanoto’s philosophy of good business is about what’s good for the community, country and company - only then will it be sustainable.
This year’s forum was jointly organized by China WTO Tribune, Germany’s Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ), Japan’s Council for Better Corporate Citizenship (CBCC), USA’s Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM), Embassy of Sweden, Business Social Compliance Initiative (BSCI) – an initiative of the European Foreign Trade Association (FTA), and the Forum for Sustainable Development of German Business (econsense).
The "GoldenBee CSR China Honor Roll" is released annually to promote and encourage Chinese companies with exemplary CSR practices. Asia Symbol was recognized for its urban sewage recycle project, which treat discharged waste water and recycle it for use in industrial production. This project was highly extolled by Germany’s GIZ, China’s Ministry of Water Resources, and Vice-Governor of Shandong Province as it serves as a model for sustainable development and is a precedent in the use of recycled water to alleviate urban water scarcity. Besides Asia Symbol, among the other companies honoured are Unilever China, Nestle China, ICBC, Danone.
According to "WTO Tribune", bees are one of the world's oldest, intelligent and civilized species, living on earth since 120 million years ago. Bees are known for their role in pollination and for producing honey for their own survival, and for man’s consumption, while helping plants to pollinate and reproduce. This harmonious co-existence of bees with nature is a form of sustainable living. "Golden Bee Company" therefore means that the company operates based on a sustainable development model.
