Asia Symbol’s Outreach to the Elderly

Asia Symbol (Shandong) Pulp Paper Co., Ltd’s Volunteer Association, together with Rizhao Economic-Technological Development Area’s Publicity Department jointly organized an outreach to the elderly living in the Rizhao Development Area on Chong Yang Festival. Chong Yang Festival falls on the ninth day of the ninth month of the Chinese lunar calendar, hence it is also known as the Double Ninth Festival. Since nine is the highest odd digit, having two of them together signifies longevity in Chinese culture. Therefore, the ninth day of the ninth month has become a special day for people to pay their respects to the elderly and a day for the elderly to enjoy themselves. It has also been declared China's Day for the Elderly.

PT RAPP in Forest and Land Fires Management Initiative

Four villages that are usually besieged by forest and land fires are now participating in a pilot project on forest and land fires management in the regency of Pelalawan in Riau province, Indonesia. These four villages have been selected to participate in the Village Fire Prevention Incentive Programme by PT Riau Andalan Pulp and Paper (RAPP), a company in Asia Pacific Resources International Limited (APRIL), which is part of the RGE Group owned by Indonesian entrepreneur Sukanto Tanoto.

Woodfibre LNG signs MOU with Guangzhou Gas

Woodfibre LNG has signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with Chinese gas distributor Guangzhou Gas Group Co. Ltd (Guangzhou). Under this MOU, Woodfibre LNG will supply one million tonnes of liquefied natural gas per year over a 25-year period, starting in 2017, from its LNG export terminal near Vancouver, British Columbia. The company plans to be producing 2.1 million tonnes per year by the first quarter of that year.
