A record 300 Tanoto scholars convened at the recent annual Tanoto Scholars Gathering in Pangkalan Kerinci. Officially opened by Tanoto Foundation board of trustees member Anderson Tanoto, this year's Tanoto Scholars Gathering, as with previous Gatherings, saw a series of seminars, activities and events that fostered character-building, team-bonding, and also greater awareness and sense of responsibility to the community, country and climate. These are aimed a fostering Indonesia's next generation of leaders.

She shared her insights on how the Foundation tackles complex and challenging issues in Indonesia’s education system.

Last July, APRIL Group launched the inaugural Fire-Free Village Programme (FFVP), a collaborative multi-stakeholder ground-up intiative aimed at preventing fires in traditionally fire-prone areas in Riau. In the last one year, the fire prevention initiative has since made great strides.

RGE recently observed the first anniversary of its Forestry, Fibre, Pulp & Paper Sustainability Framework, which sets out guiding principles for each of its business groups to adopt into policy and practice.
